The American-made JHS Pulp N Peel stompbox is already known for its uncanny ability to mix squeaky-clean compression with the dry signal of a bass or guitar. The V4 also comes fitted with a balanced XLR output so it can even function as a preamp. If your weapon of choice is a bass or electro-acoustic guitar, this little box will permit direct connection to the mixing desk or an external audio interface when needed. Naturally, electric guitarists will also get more than enough flavour out of this unarguably fresh-and-fruity little effects pedal.
The Pulp N Peel V4: Smooth Sound with Sustain and Rough Edges
While you can easily use the Pulp N Peel as a DI box, this JHS-conceived pedal also provides the more traditional mono jack input and output so it can be used to smooth-out the colour of your amplified tone. Or, by flicking it into the 'Dirt' voicing, you get a nicely roughed-up edge. Besides the Dirt switch, the control panel offers volume, compression, and blend controls, and since this is the V4, you also get the super-fresh addition of an EQ pot. Push this pot open to pull your high-end to the forefront, and dial it all the way down to give the midrange and low-end as much space as it wants.

Incredible compression pedal (and a little more). Firstly the compression circuit is great. That's what the pedal started off as. But the V4 version offers so much more.
The blend pot is great for adjusting in a mix of dry/compressed signal to balance the sound even at high compression levels. The preamp ("dirt") switch is really useful for adding a little, well, dirt to a clean channel or pushing into overdrive, and is adjustable (but not really on the fly - needs a screwdriver into an adjuster on the side - on/off is just a flip switch, though). Makes a great compressor, boost pedal but also DI box thanks to the balanced XLR output. Not the cheapest compressor you'll find but then not just a compressor either.
